Exciting News For Sarnia's Top Shelf Canada

Top Shelf Canada's has been accepted to be vendors at the NYC Hot Sauce Expo this year in September. It has been very hard for Canadian companies to get into that particular show and they are very honored to be accepted.

They plan to leave on the 21 of September to NYC. The Expo is on the 23 & 24. After the event they will be staying in NYC for 3 days then drive to Illinois, Ohio then Michigan with various stops along the way to gain interest in carrying their products. They've reached out to the consulates in those states to help guide them along the way regarding businesses they should visit which is a particularly good resource to have and will greatly assist them. They have planned a two-week road trip to visit retailers to introduce them to Top Shelf Canada's products and get their products into more locations which will help their US hard launch in January 2023.

Top Shelf Canada also announced they have been completely onboarded with a major distribution company called KeHE and they are the mother company of Tree of Life, who is their distributor in Canada.

This is a very exciting time for them and as busy as they have ever been!  They are looking forward to seeing what this exciting expansion brings and we wish this hard-working team the absolute best of luck exporting their wonderful products to the States.

The Right to Disconnect Law Went into Effect on June 2
Does your business have a policy in place yet to ensure it's in compliance?

The pandemic has forced many companies to implement remote-working, and the line between professional and personal life has become more blurred. The Right to Disconnect allows employees to be free from work-related responsibilities after work hours. The amendment was one of the highlights of the Working for Workers Act, 2021. Employers that employ 25 or more employees are required to have a written policy on disconnecting from work in place for all employees. They are also required to provide a copy of the written policy to all employees.

These requirements were added to the Employment Standards Act, 2000 (ESA) on December 2, 2021. There is a special rule that applies in the first year of the requirement. Employers that employ 25 or more employees on January 1, 2022 have until June 2, 2022 to have a written policy on disconnecting from work in place. Beginning in 2023, and in the years that follow, employers that employ 25 or more employees on January 1 of any year must have a written policy on disconnecting from work in place before March 1 of that year.

The Sarnia & District Humane Society is a non-profit, charitable organization dedicated to finding new forever homes, & caring for lost, lonely & forgotten animals of Sarnia Lambton. In the early 1950’s, several cases of animal abuse and neglect prompted a small group of concerned citizens to begin working to help these animals by providing them with a temporary shelter in a safe environment. In 1953, through the perseverance of this group, the local Humane Society was created, becoming part of an international humane movement existing in North America for more than 100 years.
