The 2021 OBAA Trophies
We would like to thank Tim & Kim Eberle for their incredible work on the 2021 OBAAs trophies.
“As artists, Tim and I are inspired every day by the natural elements that surround us. Combining the rich beauty of wood and the sparkle of glass, our collaborative work has been a natural progression over the 34 years that we have been married”.
“We were very honoured to have been chosen to create the trophies for this year’s Outstanding Business Achievement Awards.
The wood that was used to create the trophies once stood proudly as a pair of crabapple trees that grew on municipal land next to our home. These trees bloomed every spring and were a bountiful source of food for birds and animals alike; in fact, it produced so many apples that each year we would harvest some of the fruit ourselves for jam”.
“In 2019, as Tim was working at home, he heard the sound of chainsaws and was saddened to see both trees being cut down. By the time Tim reached the workers, one of the trees was already in the chipper, but he felt compelled to save the wood from the one that remained and asked to take it. Tim eventually had that wood milled into rough boards and, until now, it had been left untouched. It only seemed right to build these trophies from local materials: especially something that had such a beautiful history to it”.
“Continuing in the theme of local, we took inspiration from the beautiful waters of our shoreline and gave the trophies an abstract wave shape with a blue stained glass wave motif in the center. Due to the nature of the materials used and the fact that each piece was handmade by both myself and Tim, each of the 9 pieces are unique, much like the local businesses chosen to receive them”.
Thank you, Tim and Kim, for sharing your creative talents with the local community. Contact Kim’s Accents In Glass on Facebook, or email timkim.eberle@gmail.com.
