Canada and Ontario making significant enhancements for the food supply system

Farmers and the province’s wider agri-food sector will benefit from an upcoming new, five-year agreement between the governments of Canada and Ontario. The agreement will provide a range of investments that will help improve productivity, competitiveness and resilience in this key area of the economy and enable the province to meet goals outlined in Ontario’s Grow Ontario Strategy.
The governments have negotiated a Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership (Sustainable CAP) for Ontario that will see upwards of $1.77 billion in support for the agri-food sector over the life of the agreement. Through Sustainable CAP, $569 million will be invested in strategic initiatives, which is a 25 percent increase over the previous funding agreement. There will also be roughly $1.2 billion for continued, demand-driven, business risk management supports for farmers.

Blue Coast Primary Care are a group originally formed by the Chamber of Commerce to respond to the critical shortage of healthcare workers in our community. Their primary objective is to recruit Family Physicians. In the course of fulfilling their mandate, they also assist in the recruitment of specialists, nurses, physiotherapists and a variety of other primary healthcare workers.
Blue Coast Primary Care - Recruitment & Retention (Formerly the Physician Recruitment Taskforce of Sarnia Lambton) was formed to combat the severe shortage of Family Physicians in the Sarnia Lambton Area. Since its inception in 2001, Blue Coast Primary Care has recruited 35 Family Physicians and assisted with the recruitment of many specialists.
They are a nonprofit organization dedicated to marketing Sarnia Lambton to prospective Family Physicians and their families. They do this by attending medical recruitment fairs both in the US and in Canada, by promoting our opportunities online, by networking with other physician recruitment organizations and by establishing relationships with key medical resources such as the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Ontario, the Ministry of Health & Long Term Care and the Ontario Medical Association to name a few.
