Agreement on joint support for electric vehicle and battery projects will attract economic growth and create thousands of good-paying jobs
July 06, 2023 - The Honourable Chrystia Freeland, Canada’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, the Honourable François-Philippe Champagne, Canada’s Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry, the Honourable Doug Ford, Premier of Ontario, and the Honourable Vic Fedeli, Ontario’s Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade, issued the following joint statement:
“The governments of Canada and Ontario are partnering to attract once-in-a-generation projects that will anchor our auto manufacturing sector and keep good jobs in Canada.
“We already have fought for and secured the new NAFTA, which protected our auto sector, and fought for and secured a carve-in for Canada in the U.S. Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) electric vehicle incentives.

Increasingly, mental health is understood as a critical component of overall health and wellness, yet limited supports are available and accessible across the province. On the rise before the onset of COVID-19, mental health and addiction challenges have been greatly exacerbated by the pandemic, with significant associated social, economic, business, and health system costs and implications.
Building on previous policy work related to mental health, the Ontario Chamber of Commerce (OCC) is leading a series of consultations with members and experts to explore the impacts, obstacles, and opportunities related to increasing mental health and addictions challenges in Ontario – including those specifically encountered by small and medium-sized businesses. These consultations will help inform a policy brief with key takeaways and recommendations for government and industry, focused on practical health and economic solutions.
The Sarnia Lambton Chamber of Commerce will be participating in a consultation session on July 20th, and we want to ensure that we are bringing the needs, challenges, and ideas of our members to the table. Please consider completing this questionnaire:

We are blessed enough to give back to our community through free training programs and donations, as well as employ full and part time staff.
