Ontario Helping Small and Medium-Sized Businesses Lower Electricity Costs

New pilot program will increase consumer choice and support provincial grid

The Ontario Government is launching a new pilot program to explore dynamic electricity pricing and its ability to lower electricity bills for small and medium-sized businesses including retail stores, commercial offices and farms. This new program builds on the government’s commitment to give consumers more control of their energy bills while benefiting the provincial grid.

“Keeping electricity costs down for businesses helps create jobs and promote economic development,” said Todd Smith, Minister of Energy. “That’s why we’re launching our new dynamic pricing pilot to give them more choice in how they use and are billed for electricity – just like we’ve done for residential consumers.”

Letter of Support of the Proposed Sarnia Police Services Budget Increase

On December 8th, The Sarnia Lambton Chamber of Commerce sent a letter to Mayor Mike Bradley and Members of Council in support of the proposed budget increase for the Sarnia Police Services.  
The Chamber represents over 500 businesses, employing approximately 17,000 in a broad base of economic sectors across Sarnia Lambton.
We believe in a non-partisan approach to advocating for solutions that will help our members succeed and thrive, drive our local economy and create jobs, and improve the quality of life.  This includes keeping safe and free of negative impact of crime on their businesses.

The State of the Ontario Tourism Industry Report
Tourism is a vital sector in the provincial economy and is critical for economic recovery. While domestic and inbound tourism improved in the latter half of 2022, the industry is not expected to fully recover from the pandemic until 2025.

In need of a path forward, the Ontario Chamber of Commerce and the Tourism Industry Association of Ontario released The State of the Ontario Tourism Industry Report, calling for a comprehensive strategy that addresses workforce development, regulatory burdens, infrastructure deficits and regional disparities.
