Recently the Chamber's CEO, Carrie McEachran contributed to Living in Lambton. The Ontario government is investing over $300,000 to help young people prepare for meaningful and well-paying careers in the dairy industry. In partnership with Dairy Farmers of Ontario (DFO), the University of Guelph Ridgetown Campus’ Dairy Herdsperson Apprenticeship (DHA) program will be expanding to offer a hybrid, distance education option for students who are not able to study in person full-time or are already working on farms around the province.
“Ontario’s dairy farmers are everyday heroes who work tirelessly to keep milk and dairy products on the table for families across our province and country,” said Monte McNaughton, Minister of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development. “Our government is proud to invest in a homegrown training program to help jobseekers get the skills they need to provide quality food to the people of Ontario for generations to come.”
On behalf of our broader membership of 200,000 Canadian businesses of every size, from all regions and economic sectors, the Canadian Chamber of Commerce have submitted our 2024 pre-budget recommendations to the federal government. The submission, which has been informed by insights from our member councils and committees, includes the need for building trade-enhancing infrastructure, easing the burden of doing business, facilitating the transition to net-zero, enabling an innovative economy, attracting and retaining talent and leading in life sciences.
